Ontario Feed-In Tariff Program
In September 2009, the Ontario Government published the regulations to accompany the Green Energy Act, 2009. These rules replaced the Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (R.E.S.O.P.) with the Feed-In Tariff (F.I.T.) Program and increased the micro-fit subsidy for green energy production from $0.42 per kilowatt/hour to $0.802 per kilowatt/hour. Ontario now has some of the highest feed-in tariff rates in the world.
Under the terms of the Feed-In Tariff Program, the Government of Ontario will enter in 20 year contracts to purchase PV solar generated electricity at the following rates:
| Less than 10 Kilowatts (kW) | 80.2 ¢/kWh |
| Between 10 kW and 250 kW | 71.3 ¢/kWh |
| Between 250 kW and 500 kW | 63.5 ¢/kWh |
| Over 500 kW (Rooftop) | 53.9 ¢/kWh |
| Ground Mount up to 10 MW | 44.3 ¢/kWh |
